Food goods that were seized at border villages must be sold in Nigerian marketplaces, as per President Bola Tinubu's directive to the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) to release them to their lawful owners.
Adewale Adeniyi, the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, revealed this on Saturday, March 9, at a meeting with residents of border towns at the Kongolam and Mai'Adua border stations.
According to the head of Customs, President Tinubu chose to exercise his power "because of his profound generosity towards Nigeria, rather than because it was required by law."
In doing so, he has mandated that food products that were being exported but were intercepted at several border points be brought back to the owners.
