The forthcoming barangay election in our country come October 30 is one of the most awaited one by the masses. It will be the election for the officials of the barangay. Barangay is the smallest unit of local government in out country. This is a non partisan election where all candidates are considered independent candidates. In reality this has become a partisan one because political leaders are on the forefront supporting their bet candidates through endorsement, political machineries and even financial support.
Our town has about 50,000 voters and the actual number of candidates is 600. It is a manifestation that many wants an easy job because these officials receive honorarium that can be considered a salary because it is not a small amount. With the exception of a few, most do not deliver something or they don not perform at all and even are not around when the constituents need them.
