Performance marketing refers to a form of online advertising where advertisers pay for specific actions or results, rather than paying simply based on impressions or clicks. The goal of performance marketing is to get measurable conversions and positive return on investment (ROI) from marketing spend.

Some key things to know about performance marketing:

- It focuses on driving desired actions, like sales, signups, downloads, etc. Payment is based on these conversions rather than impressions or clicks alone.

- Common pricing models include CPA (cost per acquisition), CPC (cost per click), CPL (cost per lead), and CPS (cost per sale). Advertisers only pay when the desired action occurs.

- Performance marketing channels include paid search (like Google Ads), social media ads, affiliate marketing, email marketing, and more. These platforms make it easy to track conversions and optimize campaigns based on performance data.

- Using tracking pixels and cookies, performance marketing helps attribute conversions across channels and devices. This provides insight into what ads and campaigns deliver the best ROI.

- Performance marketing success depends on thorough conversion tracking, A/B testing, landing page optimization, and monitoring changing audience behaviors and preferences. Adaptability is key.

- Compared to brand advertising, performance marketing delivers faster, more measurable results. But brand building is still important for long-term growth. The two strategies complement each other.

In summary, performance marketing is a data-driven approach to advertising that focuses on driving real, measurable actions instead of vanity metrics like impressions. It brings accountability and ROI analysis to marketing spend. When executed well, it can deliver a major competitive advantage.

Performance advertising does it mean that when there is no action done there is no payment going? Sometimes the type of advertising make me feel like what exactly is it all about? Such advertising is better than the PPC sincve it allows one to only pay when an action is done than paying simply for a click.
